The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr Hamid Bobboyi, has committed to supporting the Niger State Government in a bid to transform five of its Model Science Schools into smart schools to meet up with the demands of 21st-century education. He made this assertion when he visited Science Model Primary School Chaza, Suleja, one of the proposed schools to be converted.
According to Alhaji Muhammad Baba Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board, the government decided to upgrade some schools in the state to meet world-class standards and ensure that children in the state receive high-quality education that will enable them to compete favourably with their counterparts globally.
Before the visit of the Executive Secretary, a team from the Digital Resource Centre of UBEC, led by Dr Hafsat Lawal Kontagora, visited Model Science Schools located in Minna, Lapai, Beri, Borgu and New Bussa. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the capacity and readiness of the Model Science Schools to commence smart education.
