UBEC DRC Embarks on Smart School Readiness Inspection Visit

5th-7th June 2024

The UBEC Digital Resource Center embarked on an Inspection Visit to some of the newly completed UBE Model Smart Schools as a preliminary step towards ascertaining the state of readiness for the take-off of additional smart schools in the forthcoming September 2024/2025 academic calendar.

The visit was conducted in 20 States (Zamfara, Plateau, Jigawa, Taraba, Yobe, Gombe, Sokoto, Anambra, Imo, Akwa-Ibom, Delta, Edo, Borno, Kogi, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Abia, Ebonyi, and Rivers) to physically inspect and assess the level of preparedness of the smart schools to commence operations.

During the inspection activity, critical components of the school infrastructure were assessed in addition to human resources as well as the commitment of the States to the take-off of the smart schools.

UBEC Officially Commissions its Digital Resource Center

The Universal Basic Education Commission’s Digital Resource Center was fomally commissioned by the Honourable Minister for Education, Professor Tahir Mamman on 30th May 2024

The August event was well attended by notable dignitaries including the Honourable Minister of State for Education Dr Tanko Sununu, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Directors from the Federal Ministry of Education, and other sister Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The UBEC Digital Resource Center was established under the visionary leadership of the Executive Secretary, Dr Hamid Bobboyi. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including an ultra-modern training hall, meeting rooms, an accommodation area for teacher trainees, a digital museum, a language laboratory, a blended learning lab, an e-library, a teachers’ lounge, a content production studio among others.

UBEC Formally announced as host of 2024 African Edtech Conference

22nd May 2024

The Universal Basic Education Commission held a press conference organized by Edufirst.ng in collaboration with the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) to officially announce the hosting of the 6th edition of the African Edutech Conference at the UBEC Digital Resource Center (DRC), Kado-Kuchi, Abuja.

The event was attended by key media organizations which included the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Radio Nigeria, Punch, Daily Trust, Vanguard, and The Sun Newspapers among others.

The hosting of the forthcoming Conference in October 2024 by UBEC aims to showcase its DRC facility as a testament to the commitment of the Commission to promoting educational technology in Nigeria and Africa at large.
